Uni, Project 4 - "Through a Glass Darkly"

For this project I was really out of my comfort zone - having never worked in a studio before I decided to keep the lighting fairly simple and concentrate more on the concept. I decided to use digital photography to capture the element of performance; dressing up my subjects in well known outfits and asking them to step into character. I used medium format film in a Bronica for the second part of the project - I wanted to show my subjects naturally; how they feel in their own skin. Self-portraiture was also a part of this project.

Uni, Project 3 - "To Me, You Are a Work of Art"

This project was self portraiture. I chose to reflect upon the things that I struggle with as a young person in this modern day: overreating, alcohol and smoking. I chose to show these in a melancholy way - the way they have affected my life. I linked this to a chapter in my life that I will never forget; the argument with my mum that came from her finding out about me smoking, which I showed in the last three images.

Uni, Project 2 - "Ups and Downs"

After watching my best friend experience a horrible relationship, I wanted to use this in my work by showing the good and bad parts about relationships; the 'honeymoon period' and the break up. I used a relationship which is close to me - my sister and her boyfriend - and my friend who was hurt badly, as I wanted to keep it as real as possible.

Uni, Project 1 - Objects

This was the first project, and I wanted to follow on from my idea at college about identity. This time, however, I linked it to ideas about the 'male gaze'; how a woman is percieved by men in modern day society as an object.
